How much does it cost to volunteer?
The volunteer programme funds many of the sanctuary's running costs, as well as covers the costs incurred when we provide accommodation, airport transportation, and food for volunteers.
Therefore, we ask all volunteers to make a one-off payment to the project before they arrive. Some previous volunteers have fundraised for this amount or asked family and friends to contribute. Fundraising is an essential method of raising awareness about the project and the issues facing the great apes in the wild. It is, therefore, a good way for volunteers to get involved and help the charity in positive ways before arrival.
The cost is as follows:
£1,150 for a 1-month stay
£1,700 for a 2-month stay
£2,250 for a 3-month stay
Flights, visas and vaccinations are not included in these costs.
These are the current costs, and we reserve the right to increase them in the future.
